Everyday is Halloween

"Everyday is Halloween": this phrase comes from the song "(Everyday Is) Halloween" by the band Ministry.
The unofficial lyrics are:

Well I live with snakes and lizards and other things that go bump in the night, but to me everyday is Halloween,
I've given up hiding and started to fight, and I started to fight.

Well, anytime, anyplace, anywhere that I go all the people seem to stop and stare.
They say, "Why are you dressed like it's Halloween? You look so absurd. You look so obscene."

Chorus
Oh, why can't I live a life for me?
Why should I take the abuse that's served?
Why can't they see they're just like me? I
t's the same, it's the same in the whole wide world.

Well I let their teeny minds think that they're dealing with someone who is over the brink, and I dress this way just to keep them at bay because
Halloween is everyday, hey is everyday hey.

Repeat Chorus

Oh, why can't I live a life for me?
Why should I take the abuse that's served?
Why can't they see they're just like me?
I'm not the one that's so absurd.

Why hide it? Why fight it?
Hurt feelings, best to stop feeling hurt from denials, reprisals. It's the same, it's the same in the whole wide world.

The Story Behind My Name

Symbolic meaning of Halos

A halo generally symbolizes the following things.
  • The divine
  • Majestic Grandeur
  • The inspiration that comes from within.

Halos in Egyptian art- The evolution of the concept of Halo is closely linked with Egyptian tradition of sun and animal worship. Thus though halo is traditionally linked to Christianity it was in existence long before Christ was born. Egyptians Halos are distinctly different from the modern day notion of the Halo. According to Frederick Goodman "The 'halo', which is ultimately derived from the magical symbolism of the Egyptians ... is almost like a sun, and, symbolically speaking, may be considered to be the equivalent of a small and radiant sun, streaming forth spiritual light”

Halos in Greek and Roman art- Greek culture is replete with examples of halos .the Romans also embraced willingly the symbol of halo like the Greeks. Many Roman and Greek gods were depicted with halos in their paintings. More interestingly, a time came when Roman emperors began to portray halos in imperial coins.

Halos in Early Christianity- In Christian tradition Jesus Christ was always portrayed with a halo. However use of this symbol became generalized and soon martyrs or persons with royal bearing were portrayed with halos.

Halos in later Christianity- During the Renaissance period the halos went out of fashion as the new emphasis was on perspective. Many art critics hold Italian painter Giotto responsible for this change. However some people in the world of art claim that halos did not disappear totally as they began to be in vogue as hats or arches. Use of Halo in mainstream western art however made a comeback in the highly symbolic art of William Blake. Art underwent radical changes in the 20th century and consequently many schools of painting came up who used this symbol of halo in their paintings.

Cradle of Filth -Artist of the Month (OCTOBER)

The cradle is rocking, the dead are rising, the seas will boil and the skies will fall. As the world stands poised on the edge of mass destruction, the freaks, fools and monsters who rule us are about to be taught a real lesson in the use of power, for Cradle of Filth have created the greatest album of their career to date. 'Damnation and a Day', has been carved out of the darkness that is about to engulf what we know as civilisation.

The recordings, spawned from the loins of five of the most controversial Lords of darkness ever to walk the earth grew to their full strength at Parkgate, a studio set in the blood-soaked town of Battle, set in darkest Hastings. Inspired by their surroundings, the five Horsemen of the Apocalypse fed on the blood of Doug Cook who was unwittingly drafted in to co-produce and engineer the album. Little did he know that he was merely a victim.

Cradle sucked the knowledge out of their hapless victim and used his withered shell of a body to help direct them in their quest to create the darkest album they could possibly imagine, before disposing of his corpse in a ritualistic shooting. The bullet still lays lodged in his face. The corpse of course has never been found.

But the blood letting did not stop there. Daniel Presley, was hung, drawn and quavered after scoring the final pages of music for the live orchestra.

The death toll now standing at 10 (that's including the rest of the staff at Parkgate, who died slowly over the five months of recording), Cradle still weren't satiated, so a week spent in Budapest saw the death toll rise to 82 as they massacred the 40 piece orchestra and the 32 piece choir.

Hungary has once again fallen under the shadow of evil. Elzabeth Bathory will pale into comparison when this news gets out.

'Damnation and a Day' was scripted by the prince of darkness Dani Filth, whose quest to decipher the truth behind the Bible, brought him to summon forth Lucifer during a ritualistic killing. The once expelled angel willingly gave his side of the story from beginning to what will be the inevitable end for us. You will bear witness to his tale, during the 17 tracks of the concept album 'Damnation and a Day' which lies before you. Your death is nigh, so listen carefully and then offer your soul to the Filth and you might be saved, deny them and your destruction will come in many forms.

They will choose it, they will watch it and they will undoubtedly laugh in your tortured face.

The sonic soundscape that encapsulates the satanic readings were finely crafted from the cries that resonate from the depths of Hades by lords Dani, Paul, Martin, Adrian and Dave. The final stage was the mix. The two disciples known as Rob Caggiano and Steve Regina were called upon to aid the dark lords in their quest, along with the reanimated tortured soul of Doug Cook.

Once you have listened to what is to come, you will bow your heads to one of the finest albums to rise from the cradle.

Sony have now embraced the darkness and under the influence of evil have become slaves to the dark powers that have been engulfing them for over a year, all have committed their souls to spreading the message and will by the March 10th 2003 release unto us the future.

So go forth and cut out the tongues of the unbelievers, lay waste to the trash that assaults our ears every day, for that is merely a smoke screen to numb your minds from the truth, and beg forgiveness for your past sins. For if you don't, you're fucked.

World domination takes apart society as we know it in mid March when the Cradle swings into action and takes to the road to hell, first into Europe and then back to the US to follow up last year's sell out tour. So all the petty little people out there with their bombs and their guns better run away now, because it's show time and they haven't got a hope in hell, even if they do have an access all areas pass.

Cradle of filth have finally arrived at the palace of righteousness, ready to drain the blood from your face and whatever is left of your miserable pathetic carcass.

How to Make a Room Gothic

Gothic rooms can be dark, beautiful, and enchanting. Dark colours, black, red and silver candles, soft music ....or maybe band posters, mysterious works of art, and strange but appealing ornaments. Whatever the style, whatever the purpose, one of the best ways to beautify a room is to make it Gothic. However, one must pick up some basic skills and their own unique taste, as well as some rules and tips, to create the perfect Gothic room. Painting the walls black and claiming to be deeply "Gothic" will not pull off the effect. If you want to make your room Gothic, but need some guidance, then this article is for you.

STEPS

1. Clean your room. Gothic and messy do not mix. It is absolutely essential that you remove all clutter, unnecessary objects and completely clean up the room. A good way to start is to create some piles: a "keep" pile, "throw away" pile and a "maybe" pile. Arrange everything into those three piles and go from there. Remember to clean the room very thoroughly- dusting, washing, vacuuming, polishing...whatever needs to be done.

2.Decide on your style. There is no one style for a Gothic room, which gives you a little diversity and freedom of choice while decorating. Before you jump into things, have a good think about what style, effect and message you're going for. Remember that the room still needs to be comfortable and you need to create an environment that you feel happy and safe in, while also being appealing and attractive to others. You may want to create a fantasy room, complete with silver walls and stars, or a darker room, with black walls and haunted pictures. There are many other styles you can go for, but feel free to create your own.

3.Paint the walls. One of the easiest ways to pull off one of the biggest effects is to paint the walls. Don't fall into the stereotyped trap and immediately buy fifty cans of black paint. Take some time to decide what kind of color you would like. You could also create mural, and make a feature wall. Some suggestions for colors would be silver, deep purple, black, or maybe even a royal red or blue.

4.Get some ornaments. Ornaments are essential for a Gothic room, as they beautify it and add whatever the desired effect. Some ornaments are designed to suit the Gothic style, while others simply slide in accidentally. Browse the shops and online for things that catch you eye. Some suggestions would be:
#Candles. Candles will always give you a great effect, because they come in so many different styles. Silver, black or red candles are all good. Cream colored or yellow/gold candles can also set off a very romantic look. Scented candles are also extremely effective.
#Candle holders. Majestic, silver candle holders will add a great decoration to any style of gothic room, with or without candles.
#Cushions. Black silk, silver embroidery, crystal white... cushions create a relaxed, comfy and beautiful environment. Gothic cushions are not difficult to find, either.
#Plants. Don't think of the immediate plant: green and leafy, filling the pot. Try other plants, or even fake ones, in pretty silver, white, or dark pots. Plants with white or red flowers are good for a romantic goth look. You can also try the fake plants, which are much easier to look after, and are designed in a variety of styles. You could also cut off rose petals on a rose.

5.Add some artwork. Beautiful paintings or other mysterious works of will always have a big impact on a room. If you're an artist, get creative and make your own things. If not, shop around and see what you can find.Masks, mosaics and paintings are all very good.

6.Get some bedsheets. Ditch the plain bedsheets for something more dark or romantic. Black silk is perfect, as is velvet, plain white, silver, and if you're looking for more color, purples, reds and blues. Have a good browse and find something that works for you. Remember to get something comfortable and easy to look after, and try to match it with the colour theme. You can also get some bed hangings- white lace is perfect.

7.Buy a rug. Look around for colours that suit your room. Try getting something unique and interesting, something that will catch people's eye. Remember to make sure you buy one that isn't high maintenance and won't wear out over the years.

8.Get some new furniture. If you want, you can simply paint your old furniture, or even leave it as it is. But if you can afford to, why not get some new things? Dark marble and other stones, as well as wood, are good materials for Gothic furniture. White, black, silver, or dark, deep woody browns are good colors.

9.Play a little music. Set up a CD player or stereo and mystify or rock people's minds with your choice of music. Keep your CDs on display so people can see what kind of stuff you like.

Night of Silent Contemplation

The pills and razor blade rest at my side

This is not the end but the beginning

I have had my low points

I have taken a few pills in the past

Only to obliterate the world from my mind

A few moments of peace

Before everything comes crashing down

Disjointed memories of an ambulance and a hospital

Drifting in and out of consciousness

How in God’s name has it come to this?

I reached out to so many souls

But they were too busy living their own lives

Moments of enlightenment followed by days of depression

But that was the past

Today is the dawning of a new reality

I have taken all that this world can throw at me

The pills and razor blade still rest at my side

But they are not going to see any action tonight

It is a night of silent contemplation

I put everything back in their proper place

This world can be a better place

I will fight on a little longer

The pills and razor blade will always be there

My silent friends who lead me into darkness

I am ready to stare into the light

At least for one more day

My Birthday

Happy Birthday Glitter
